Cartels

The Challenge
A gritty action thriller built around two opposing worlds: the tactical, military-coded world of U.S. marshals and DEA agents protecting a cartel informant, and the ruthless, street-level menace of the cartel operatives hunting him down. Every costume needed to communicate allegiance, rank, and threat at a glance, while keeping everything grounded in the film’s hard-edged, contemporary tone. Filmed in Romania standing in for an international setting, the wardrobe also had to carry enough visual weight to hold its own in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
The Approach
The law enforcement side was built on functional layering: tactical gear, subdued palettes, and utilitarian fits that signal discipline and hierarchy without tipping into uniform. The cartel operatives were given a sharper, more aggressive edge, using fit, fabric, and detail to project danger and control. The distinction between the two sides had to read clearly and quickly, especially during the film’s action-heavy sequences. Throughout, the focus was on costumes that feel lived-in and credible, supporting the tension of the story rather than distracting from it.
