The White House

The Context
An eight-part Fox Nation historical docudrama spanning the earliest years of the American presidency, from John Adams to James Madison. With ambition, betrayal, scandal and personal tragedy unfolding inside the walls of the newly built White House, every character needed to feel rooted in a specific historical moment while remaining vivid and immediate on screen. Filmed in Bucharest, Romania, in a building that closely mirrored the original structure, the costumes carried the full weight of period authenticity.
The Approach
The wardrobe was built to honour the specific visual world of early 19th-century America: the formality of public life, the intimacy of private quarters, and the sharp distinctions of class, race and political standing that defined the era. From the stately dress of the Adams and Jefferson households to the more dynamic, socially ambitious world of the Madisons, each character required a distinct costume identity grounded in historical research. Across eight episodes and multiple presidential households, maintaining period accuracy while serving dramatic storytelling was the constant discipline at the heart of every decision.
